About Naomy Derksen:
Naomy Derksen is a 2D animation filmmaker based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Growing up telling stories was her ultimate passion, be it through acting, writing or making comics. It was however quite a surprise to her, that she ended up in this line of work due to her interest in science. Preferring the emotional and artistic side, she made the choice to study 2D animation at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. And that choice is something that she hasn't once regretted. Even though she chose for a career in filmmaking, her love for biological and psychological phenomenon still shines through in her animations. For example, the behaviour of animals and their symbolism is something that heavily inspired her thesis film “Crossing Bunny Bridge”. She is also particularly interested in sorting out her dreams and using them as a source for inspiration.
Artist Statement:
"I am a 2D animation artist with a passion for evoking emotions. I get inspiration from my regular life, childhood memories and my dreams. I dream very vividly and I have always been interested in giving these dream images a platform. I also enjoy giving my animations a sense of space and making drawings come alive through organic shapes and line art. In that way, I hope to give my stories a feeling of tangibility."
